Connecticut's Operation Fuel Needs Help To Help Those In Need
HARTFORD, CT (WCBS 880) - The need for fuel assistance in Connecticut is growing while state and federal money for the program is drying up.

Pat Rice, who runs Operation Fuel, says last year the organization provided home heating oil to 5,000 families, but money ran out and Operation Fuel was forced to shut down.
This year, she is looking for private donations.
"We rely on the donations of others and sometimes the people that donate to us need help themselves," she told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.
Rice says one easy way to help is to check the add a dollar box on your monthly utility bill. Those donated dollars go directly to Operation Fuel.
With a good response, they think they might raise over $1 million.
"Operation Fuel is committed to do everything in its power to provide energy assistance to low-income residents and we're going to not leave any stone unturned to make that happen," Rice said.
