Archbishop Dolan, Speaker Quinn Distribute Thanksgiving Fixings
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan, former New York Mets outfielder Rusty Staub, and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn distributed the uncooked fixings for 400 Thanksgiving dinners at Catholic Charities in Central Harlem on Tuesday.

"We got an emergency now. We got a crisis now...when it comes to hunger," Dolan said, adding that we've got to do something about it.
"This just isn't the job of our political leaders. This just isn't the job of our business or civic leaders. This just isn't the job of our church leaders. The is the duty, the sacred responsibility, of all of us," Dolan told WCBS 880 reporter Rich Lamb.
With that, the archbishop blessed the turkeys and the trimmings as people lined up to get them.
"When we have the honor of looking out at you, we don't see a statistic, we don't see a number, we don't see a budget. We don't see some proposal of a bill or something, we see people that we love and revere, people who have a name, people whose hand I'm going to have the honor to shake and say Happy Thanksgiving," Dolan said to those waiting in line.
Dolan also spoke of his Thanksgiving tradition.
"When I was growing up back in St. Louis, we always had a tradition and my grandma said she learned it from her mom that at the Thanksgiving table, we always had an extra plate and an empty chair and the tradition was somebody might show up that doesn't have any place else to go," he said.
