NEW YORK (AP) – Occupy Wall Street protesters say they’re getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving with music performances and meals for 5,000 people.

Protesters will have turkey with all the fixings on Thursday, along with cranberries and mashed potatoes, said Cari Machet, a volunteer with the demonstrators’ public relations working group.

They will also have gluten-free and vegetarian fare. The food is being donated by restaurants and individual supporters.

“It’s going to be festive even though we’re highly policed,” Machet said.

Workers plan to wrap plates individually so they can be taken into Zuccotti Park where the protest is centered, Machet said. The company that owns the park, Brookfield Office Properties, has kept protesters from bringing in large objects ever since police raided the park last week to clear out the tents of protesters.

The protesters do not have a permit for loudspeakers, so the music will be live and acoustic, Machet said.

Brookfield has also barred protesters from lying down in the park, meaning there will be no Turkey Day naps.

PLEASE PEOPLE ! Obama was right – you protestors are a bunch of lazy azzes using the economy as an excuse because of your poor life decisions. So what if I grossed pre-tax 8.35 Million last year – you can to if you put down the roach and stop attending a ‘liberal arts’ institution. Universities don’t teach you to 1) think and 2) work in the real world ! These 99% complainers are as worth listening to as the turd I left in the toilet bowl but it just smells better than they do on any given day. Do I feel any sympathy for your cold, self-serving opinions … is the pope Jewish?

Nice try, but they obviously totally lost focus on the real cause of all their problems.

So now City law gives these out-of-town protesters the absolute right to take charity away from the homeless. Nice work, people!

    1. Amtracmarine says:

Remember, this foreign born (Adbusters magazine of Canada) protest is also receiving foreign money, and lots of it to get going. If they represent the 99%
shouldn’t the resturants that are donating food be helping the shelters and soup kitchens since so many of them have lost funding in the past yeaer??.

  8. Amtracmarine says:

B/S/,B/S/, They interviewed the resturant owner that is doing the cooking. He said the he is charging at discounted rate but he is being paid.

  10. Rick says:

I would like to see a list of the merchants that are donating all this food to the OWS clowns. This way the rest of us can boycott their establishments.

I hope the get thousands of homeless, poor, broke-ass New Yorkers and their kids.

I worked forJPMC and had cigars at Barklay Rex.

If I could I’d go down there give dole out the turkey dinners myself.

It reads like you’d shoot the demonstrators.

      So what’s wrong with you?

What happened to your passion, your compassion, your humanity?

      What withered your soul?

You’d probably kick your own parents to the curb…

  12. Harper says:

Hmmm, local restaurants supporting OWS? But I thought that movement was bad for businesses! Why oh why would they be supporting a bunch of dirty drug-dealing hippies?

Do they know something that CBS doesn’t?

    1. Amtracmarine says:

They interviewed the resturant owner on the news this morning. He said the he was getting paid (at a discounted rate) to cook the meals.

  13. Saltine says:

I wonder if they’d be willing to donate those meals to the homeless or the residents of the Alfred Smith Houses who STILL have no gas to cook with and are certainly ppl who are not in an economic situation that would allow for them to eat at a restaurant on Thanksgiving.

    1. harriet says:

yes, anyone can go to the park for the meal and left overs will go to area food pantries for the poor (kinda like city harvest).

      1. Sam says:

Yeah right. Leftovers cannot be sent to city harvest if they don’t know what kind of environment the food was kept in. CH will not risk feeding left over food that has been sitting out for hours to needy people.
