Bieber Not Performing Live At Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony; Gridlock Alert Still Issued

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Bad news Bieber fans. The teen pop star will not be performing live Wednesday night at the tree lighting ceremony in Rockefeller Center.

There were a number of reports last week that Justin Bieber would be performing live the same night President Barack Obama is set to be town.

But according to event organizers, Bieber's performance has been pre-taped and will air as a segment during the ceremony.

There will however be a number of big names performing live, including Faith Hill, Michael Buble and others.

And even without Bieber, event organizers say tens of thousands are expected to crowd the sidewalks between West 48th and West 51st streets and 5th and 6th avenues.

With the president in town and the big event at Rockefeller Center, the NYC Department Of Transportation has still issued a Gridlock Alert for Wednesday, meaning drivers should expect heavy traffic, delays and detours.

Obama and Bieber were both in town back in June. The teen star appeared at Macy's Herald Square to promote his new fragrance while the president was in the city to attend two fundraisers and a Broadway show.
