Suspect Accused Of Killing 2-Year-Old Daughter Due In Court Monday In NJ

FREEHOLD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A father charged with killing his 2-year-old daughter will be in court Monday afternoon in New Jersey.

Arthur Morgan III was arrested Tuesday by U.S. Marshals in California after receiving a tip he was staying with friends in the San Diego area.

He waived his right to extradition on Thursday.

Prosecutors say Morgan killed his daughter, 2-year-old Tierra Morgan-Glover, during a court-approved visit on Nov. 22.

The toddler was found face-down strapped in her car seat and partially submerged in a stream near Shark River Park in Wall Township.

The cause of death was determined to be homicidal violence, including submersion in water. The FBI believes the girl and car seat were thrown from an overpass.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said Morgan was on his way back to New Jersey, but would not say if he had arrived yet as of Friday night.

He is due in court on Monday.
