'Don't Trade Reyes' T-Shirt Maker Takes Aim At Mets Owners With New Creation

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Never over-estimate the power of the graphic t-shirt. The guy whose shirts failed to prevent the Mets from trading Jose Reyes is coming out with a new one with a new demand.

Darren Meenan is the Mets fan from Queens who has been printing Mets-themed t-shirts for fellow die-hard fans since launching his own company, The 7 Line, on the last home game of the 2009 season.

The line's best-seller says: "Don't Trade Reyes."

"The 'Don't Trade Reyes' movement spread so quick to every single game the Mets are playing it, whether it was home or on the road" Meenan told 1010 WINS' John Montone.

But now, Meenan says the company has a new hit aimed at Mets owners Fred and Jeff Wilpon. It simply says "Sell The Team."

"It's apparent the reason Jose is not a Met is because of the Wilpons," he said.

Meenan thinks the new shirt will be a hit.

"I have close to 9,500 fans on the Facebook page and I put up different t-shirt ideas almost daily and I put up the 'Sell The Team' shirt idea and it was the most popular one I've ever put up," said Meenan.

If you want to buy the new shirt, you can trade in your "Don't Trade Reyes" t-shirt and get a $10 rebate. All donated shirts will be donated to local shelters in Queens but they must be in wearable condition.
