Occupiers Arrested Following Dance-Off At World Financial Center's Winter Garden

NEW YORK (CBS New York/AP) -- The NYPD has arrested 18 demonstrators at a protest in Lower Manhattan, according to Occupy Wall Street organizers.

Organizer Sandra Nurse said police removed a crowd of protestors who were dancing in the atrium of the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center.

The NYPD acknowledged that it had made several arrests but did not confirm the number or location.

This protest followed a demonstration that took place on Monday outside of the offices of Goldman Sachs investment bank. Demonstrators conducted a mock interview of a giant squid since the protest was inspired by a 2010 Rolling Stone Article that described the bank as a giant vampire squid.

Occupiers were cleared from Zuccotti Park following numerous complaints from local residents and business.

Police reportedly informed the protestors that the city "had determined that the continued occupation of Zuccotti Park posed an increasing health and fire safety hazard."

Since being cleared from Zuccotti Park and barred from setting up a permanent encampment, Occupy protestors have sought newer and more innovative ways to demonstrate.

The group held a second "Day Of Action" on Dec. 6 that included a march on foreclosed homes as well as a potential re-occupation of Zuccotti Park.

The re-occupation would commence on Dec. 17, which would be three months since the demonstration began.
