Brookhaven Forms Task Force For Feral Cats
BROOKHAVEN, NY (WCBS 880) - The town of Brookhaven is launching a task force of volunteers to help trap, neuter and release feral cats.

The overpopulation of felines is out of control, according to one veterinary technician.
She says humans are to blame.
"Because you have outdoor cats. People have outdoor cats and don't bother to spay or neuter them and they just repopulate and keep on going," she said.
Volunteers and veterinarians willing to work pro-bono are asked to contact the Brookhaven animal shelter at 631-286-4940.
The shelter is located at 300 Horseblock Road and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Town supervisor Mark Lesko says it's man who has created this problem and it's man who has to fix it.
The task force will be led by town animal shelter director Dori Scofield and will be using a $4,000 grant from the PETCO Foundation.
