Father Brian Jordan says in his 28 years as a priest, this experience stands out.

"This is one of the most strongest, most vital sense of community I've seen at a Catholic Mass in all my life," he said.

And yet Father Jordan says this will be his last Midnight Mass there, saying it's time to move on.

"The memory is not just on the physical site. It's in the mind. It's in the soul," he told WCBS 880 reporter Peter Haskell.

Some have told the group they understand, while others would prefer the tradition continue.
