NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Murder charges have been filed against a New Jersey man following the death of his girlfriend’s infant daughter.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray announced the arrest of 25-year-old Tyrail Jones on Friday.

Murray says Jones is not the child’s father, but he had been living with her mother in Newark. Jones formerly lived in East Orange.

The murder charge stems from the death of 29-month-old Alexis Robinson, who was taken from her home to a hospital on Wednesday. She died there a short time later, and an autopsy determined that she died from blunt force trauma.
