Keeping the resolution to stay in shape is all about keeping it real, according Diana Ramone, who manages the Lucille Roberts in Commack.

She says to set realistic goals.

"A lot of people come in in January and they say 'I'm gonna go everyday and I'm gonna do this.' It's not realistic. You just take it step by step - day by day," she told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.

She recommends a consistent combination of exercise and diet.

"It needs to be a routine. It needs to be something that, just like you brush your teeth or you go to the bathroom," she said.

Trainer Armon Dimion says to make it fun.

"You have to smile. You have to join. You have to feel like you're having fun, you know. It's not supposed to be a punishment," she said.

Dimion says to make healthy living part of your everyday life.

Ramone says it ultimately has to be something you want.

"You have to want it. If you don't want it, it's not gonna happen," Ramone, who has lost a total of 150 pounds since she started working out, said.
