WFAN's Boomer Esiason Co-Hosts 'Live! With Kelly' Wednesday

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Former Jets and Bengals quarterback Boomer Esiason is no stranger to appearing on television and radio. Just ask Craig Carton, Esiason's morning show co-host on WFAN.

Now, the 50-year-old can add "Live! with Kelly" to his impressive resume.

A bevy of guests have co-hosted alongside Kelly Ripa since Regis Philbin, 80, retired in November. Esiason was the latest to share the stage Wednesday morning.

The 1988 NFL MVP was faced with a difficult decision on the eve of his appearance: to wear a tie or not wear a tie?

"I want you to think of our studio as your second home, so you wear what makes you feel good," Ripa told Boomer & Carton Tuesday morning. "We are having the best time, I'm telling you."

The search for Philbin's replacement has taken the "Live!" crew high and low, from comedian Jerry Seinfeld to celebrity chef Paula Deen. Ripa said Esiason will get serious consideration, but the former quarterback insisted "it's a one-and-done for me."

"We're not playing around here," Ripa said. "We are going to be examining and studying Boomer like we're drafting him."

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino joined Boomer and Kelly to discuss the newest season of MTV's "Jersey Shore." Jane Krakowski of "30 Rock" also appeared.

Esiason can be heard weekdays from 6-10 a.m. ET on WFAN's Boomer & Carton morning show. He's also a regular guest on WEEI radio in Boston.

His television credits include "The NFL Today" on CBS and MSG's Boomer & Carton simulcast.
