MANALAPAN, NJ (CBSNewYork) — Police say they are looking for two baby formula bandits after a violent theft in New Jersey.

It was all caught on surveillance video at a Target store in Manalapan last weekend.

Police say a woman is seen loading a cart with more than $1,400 in formula. When her partner, a man, tries to sneak the cart out of the store, a Target employee tries to stop him.

That’s when police say the shoplifter starts throwing punches. Cops say he beats the employee, leaving him with a broken finger and sprained arm.

Clearly Obama is not doing a good job if you have to steal baby formula. It should be free like the cell phones they give out to the blacks and the white people with no teeth .

Is there that kind of market for resale of formula on the street or is it being used for other reasons?

I used to work retail, and I have chased many a shoplifter.
You watch them steal with your own eyes and the lie saying they dont know what your talking about when confronted.
I’ve had bricks thrown at me, from a guy who meant to steal cepacol throat lozenges and by mistake grabbed dulcolax stool softener.
the packaging was similar. He felt dumb after getting caught, throwing bricks at us, and then realizing he tried to swipe the wrong thing.

Lets give all retail store employees stun guns.

just shows how the economy is going these days!!! people would resort to stealing baby formula!!! $1400 of baby formula??? hmm… so when will it hit the shelves of these mama papa shops at local delis??? it’s so so so funny how these local delis in nj and nyc stock up on thousands of items but not having that many customers!!!

Stealing baby formula is not a sign of economic issues. Baby formula has always been a hot item for thieves because they re-sell it. Employee theft of baby formula is a huge shrink issue for many companies that sell it. It has been happening for years. This is only news because of the violent “escape”. You are right, it will just be on someone else’s shelf, on craigslist or ebay soon!
