Gotham Gossipist: Former 'Real Housewives' Stars Want Brooklyn-Based Reality Show

By Kimberly Rae Miller

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Bougie Brooklynites Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen gained notoriety for being their social-climbing selves on Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York.

Unfortunately after four seasons of on-air living, Bravo wasn't happy with the show's ratings and axed both McCord and van Kempen, opting instead for more Manhattanites.

The duo are now shopping for a reality show to keep them from ever having to leave the borough of Brooklyn.

The New York Post has obtained an email sent from the couple to their friends that outlines their career plans.

"While we were sad to lose the dollars . . . we weren't sad to be off that particular show," the e-mail reads. "Now that we are free-and-clear of our Bravo contracts, we have been meeting with . . . just about every cable network as well as a couple of the main networks."

The plan: Alex, Simon, and their Brooklyn buds will star in a show tentatively titled "Based in Brooklyn." The show would follow 30-something parents in "Brownstone Brooklyn" as they went about their daily lives.

Don't expect any pre-plotted drama. The two indicate that 'Based in Brooklyn'  would be nothing like the Bravo show that paid for their brownstone.

"We would never expose ourselves to another faux reality show."

A drama-free parenting show.  Basically, it will be about the Park Slope Food Coop and finding street parking.  Sounds fascinating.
