Giants Fans, Businesses Gearing Up For Big NFC Championship Game

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's been four years since the Giants advanced to the Super Bowl and they're just one game away from returning to the big game.

In just two days, we'll know if the G-Men will be heading to Indianapolis for the Super Bowl.  Back in week 10, the 49ers beat the Giants 27-20, but the team and the fans say there will be a much different outcome this time around.

With Eli Manning beating a 24-hour stomach bug, fans say the Giants are ready to beat the Niners in the NFC championship game this Sunday.

"They've been on a roll," said Chioma Valcourt South Plainfield, NJ. "Eli's doing good. The defense is doing well, the offense is doing well. They are unstoppable right now."

"We're getting redemption on teams that beat us early in the year," said Giants fans Chuck McGinley from Plainsboro. "Now we get one more chance at the 49ers."

"You go out to Green Bay and knock off the defending Superbowl champs and from there, the sky's the limit," said Giants fans Eric Ren Saratoga Springs. "Going out to San Fransisco to me isn't going to be as big a deal as going to Green Bay and winning there."

Local businesses are also going blue in support. The Copenhagen Bakery in Suffolk County is selling blue and white cookies, Giants cakes, football platters and more.

"I'm fascinated by how far-reaching the impact of the Giants winning is to a small business like ours," said owner Stacey Hansen. "It is a wonderful thing because so many small business do benefit because people are celebrating and coming to us to get what they need."

And a new theme song is going viral. Comedian and die-hard Giants fan Josh Hyman released an ode to defensive star Jason Pierre Paul. It's a parody of the Naughty by Nature song "OPP" and it's already received more than 63,000 hits on YouTube.

Weather could be a factor in Sunday's game with rain in the forecast for San Francisco all through the weekend.

Giants fans are hoping it won't be a repeat of the Mud Bowl, the infamous 1982 AFC championship game between the Jets and the Dolphins in Miami.

Former Jets wide receiver Wesley Walker still remembers that game and weighed in on what he thinks the Giants will need to do to win this weekend in soggy San Fran.

"There was so much water, you couldn't tell. You were just wet and tired," he told 1010 WINS' John Montone.

But even with wet weather in the forecast, Walker said he believes the Giants can still pull through by relying on their running game.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg is also betting big on the G-Men. If the Giants win, the mayor of San Fransisco has agreed to hang Giants flags from a cable car.

But if the Giants lose, Bloomberg agreed to rename the theater district's 49th Street "49ers Street."

In the meantime, Bloomberg is doing his part to root on the G-Men. Decked out in a blue tie and a blue shirt, Bloomberg kicked off his weekly radio show: "Let's start with the most important thing this weekend. Go Giants!"

When the team hits the field on Sunday, they'll be looking sharp thanks to a Bergen County cleaning business.

It's a Herculean effort to keep the Giants looking good. Barry Barrone, owner of Park Cleaners in Rutherford, is the stain master. Blood, sweat, mud, grass and end zone paint. You name it, he's cleaned it.

Before the big game, Barrone does a little tailoring with his century-old Singer sewing machine.

"Eli Manning's jersey for the game. He likes a little bit shorter and he puts elastic in the bottom," Barrone explained.

If the Giants win, he'll have to fire up the sewing machine one more time this season.

"We put the Super Bowl patches on," he said. "I've done that a few times."
