It happened just after 10 p.m. Wednesday. Nassau County police tell WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall that when one young man walked into the restaurant to pick up his paycheck, he left his Mazda unlocked and running with his 21-year-old friend inside.
That's when authorities say another man jumped in behind the wheel and began to drive off.
"The subject turned to the victim and states 'Are you going to get out?' and when the victim stated 'No.' The subject produced a black-handled kitchen knife and stabbed him in the face, head and left hand," said Nassau County police officer Christopher Barling.
Barling said the victim rolled out of the car onto the pavement and the suspect drove away.
The victim was taken to the hospital with numerous stab wounds.
The suspect has since been caught and the car has been recovered.
