As the Republican presidential candidates wrap up another debate and Democrats raise money to keep President Obama in Washington, a non-profit organization called Americans Elect is working on others ways of getting candidates on the ballot.

"The system is basically rigged," said Elliot Ackerman, chief operating officer of Americans Elect. "The Republicans and the Democrats essentially have a duopoly on political expression in this country."

Ackerman says they're not creating a third party, but rather the first open, non-partisan nominating process online where all registered voters across the country can pick who they want to see on an independent ticket for the 2012 presidential election.

Ackerman says they need roughly 500,000 more signatures to get another candidate on the ballot in all 50 states.
