Changes Coming To The LIRR To Help Commuters

MINEOLA, NY (CBSNewYork) - The Long Island Rail Road is upgrading its communication system for waiting commuters.

They're installing more GPS devices and sensors that'll help get needed information to riders during service disruptions.

It's welcome news to customers.

The rail road is spending $3.5 million this year in the upgrade, designed to give people like Jenna Parente the information she needs and wants.

"How long the delay is. When I'm going to get home," she said.
