Police: Stolen Cub Scout Trailer Found In Brightwaters

BRIGHTWATERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A trailer used for transporting equipment for a local Cub Scout troop has been found.

Police said a jogger stumbled upon the missing trailer on Wohseepee Drive in Brightwaters on Sunday morning.

The trailer, which belongs to Cub Scout Pack 370, was stolen between Jan. 16 and 18 from a parking lot at the corner of Moffitt Boulevard and Commack Road in Islip, police said.

The jogger said he recognized the 8-foot by 10-foot grey-colored trailer from a media report.

Pack master Kurt Nilsen told WCBS 880 reports Sophia Hall last month that 42 years of banners, flags, ribbons, and other memories were inside the trailer.

All the memorabilia, as well as a video monitor, video projector, and barbeque grills, were still inside the vehicle when it was discovered, police said.

No arrests have been made.

Police ask anyone with information to call 631 854-8352 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
