NYPD: Cops Find Stolen iPhone Ringing Inside Teen Suspect's Pants

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police say two cops found a stolen iPhone after they heard it ringing inside the pants of a 14-year-old suspect.

Around 4:30 p.m. Friday, two officers were patrol near the Jefferson Houses by 2nd Avenue and East 112 Street when authorities say they saw a teen grab an iPhone from a woman who was walking down the street and run off.

Police say the officers chased after the teen, but lost him in one of the buildings.

Using the Find My iPhone app, cops were able to track down the victim's phone. Police say they found a boy who looked similar to the suspect, but he was wearing different clothes. As the officers were questioning him, they called the victim's phone and it began to ring.

Cops say they found the ringing phone stuffed in the boy's underwear. Police say the woman positively identified the teen as the one who stole her phone and he was arrested on grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal trespass.

Due to his age, his name has not been released.
