Fans Show Giants WR Manningham Some Love At Times Square Modell's

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- While he doesn't have the dance moves of his fellow wideout, the Giants' Mario Manningham planted both feet where they needed to be during a clutch, fourth-quarter catch on Sunday.

Manningham made the spectacular grab on quarterback Eli Manning's 38-yard strike late in the game with the Giants down by two points. The catch ended up being the catalyst for the game-winning drive as New York held off the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl XLVI, 21-17.

On Monday night, fans at the Modell's in Times Square came out to show their appreciation for Manningham and the play that will run on highlight reels for years to come.

"You won that for us baby!," screamed one man.

"If it was not for that catch, we really would not be here right now. He is like the best wide receiver ever. I mean, he has the most stickiest hands," one Giants fan said.

"I'm just so grateful for him and I hope he comes over and signs my forehead. That's what I'm hoping, but I hope he knows how much we all appreciate this," remarked another fan.

Manningham said it was a perfect throw from Manning that allowed him to make the play along the sidelines.

"A lot was going through my mind -- catch the ball and stop your feet, stay in-bounds," he told reporters, including 1010 WINS' Sonia Rincon.

Manningham, who was joined at Modell's by teammate Dave Tollefson, also credited the defense for the come-from-behind victory.

"Ten years ago I was a carpenter, now I'm a two-time Super Bowl champion and it's an amazing feeling," Tollefson said.

The catch by Manningham has prompted some to compare it to another remarkable Super Bowl play  -- David Tyree's "helmet" grab in the Super Bowl win over the Patriots in 2008.

Still, Manningham said it might not have happened if he had bigger feet.

"I wear [size] 11, if I would've wore 11 1/2, it would have been out of bounds," he said.
