Giants To Celebrate Super Bowl Win At MetLife Stadium After Ticker-Tape Parade

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New Jersey will be honoring the Super Bowl champion New York Giants following their ticker-tape parade through Lower Manhattan's Canyon of Heroes on Tuesday.

Gov. Chris Christie will be on hand at Met Life Stadium for a rally set to begin at 3 p.m.

Christie told WFAN on Monday morning, "I think the Maras and the Tisches are very sensitive to the fact they have both New York fans and New Jersey fans. All the facilities are in our state and most of their players live in our state. I think they are going to try to work something out for the residents of New Jersey. We've been supporting the Giants big since 1976 when they came to our state."

Following a ceremony at City Hall in Manhattan, the Giants will board a bus and head over to the Meadowlands for the parking lot party.

A similar celebration was held at Giants Stadium following the team's Super Bowl win in 2008.

The Giants captured the franchise's fourth Super Bowl championship on Sunday, with a 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots.

New York only trails Pittsburgh with six, and San Francisco and Dallas with five, and became the first team to win the title after finishing the regular season 9-7.

The Giants had an up-and-down year, but finished with wins over the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys, securing the NFC East title, before winning four consecutive postseason games.
