NEW YORK (WFAN) – Less than a week after helping his team win Super Bowl XLVI, Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz is already thinking about next season.

And how much he’ll be payed to play it.

Cruz believes he should be paid more than his slotted salary of $490,000, according to ProFootballTalk.

“I think I was paid, you know, relative to where I came in this year and, you know, I came in as a free agent so that’s the salary I was on, so I don’t feel like I was underpaid,” Cruz told ProFootballTalk. “I mean, I feel like after my performance this year, you know, I feel like I deserve to be paid more money at this point. But that’s something I’ll let my agents and those people take care of and I’ll just go out there and play the game.”

Cruz emerged from obscurity to set a Giants franchise record for receiving yardage, with 1,536 yards this season and hauled in 82 receptions and nine touchdowns.

The 25-year-old entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2010, and as such made $405,000 in 2011 as part of a three-year rookie contract.

The Giants will also have a decision to make on several key players, including free agent receiver Mario Manningham and defensive end Osi Umenyiora, for starters.

Umenyiora is a bargain with one year at $3.975 million remaining on his contract. New York could pay him, trade him or do neither with the hope that he doesn’t hold out of training camp.

Should the Giants sign Cruz to new deal? How about Osi? Leave a comment below.

The guy broke all these franchise records at the NY Giants which has had great receivers throughout history. Just for that he should get the money. Keep him motivated. He’s the NFL bargain of the year and I would hate to see him in any uniform other than Giants.

pay the man football to rough a sport not to try and make money quick you might get career ending injury than what let the man get what he deserve.

Give him a big contract and watch him flop!

Bunp him up tp $1m this year. See how he does next year before going to a long term contract. Got to keep Osi somehow. i thought Manningham would be a problem not cruz.

What??? Austin had 1,000 yards the year after he signed his contract. Then last year he was hurt and only played 8 full games. Had he played all 16, he yet again would have had over 1,000 yards. Cruz was crucial to the Giants doing anything this season. Without him the Giant would have barely won 7 games. The guy can jump higher than anyone when hes in stride and he showed he can make big catches. The Giants must pay Cruz.

No for cruz, yes for osi…Giants need osi, he makes the defense deeper and better. Cruz needs to perform at a high level again before the giants decide to sign him long term. does the name Miles Austin ring a bell? He too was a undrafted free agent, had a big season, signed a big contract, and has yet to have that same big season. with the salary cap, giants cant be raising everyones contract.. but this is what happens to championship teams..players after let greed ruin a good thing
