"It's gonna create traffic backups all along these streets as people wait to get in and out of the lot," said Gib Veconi of the Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council. "Not only do you get the noise and the traffic and everything else, but you don't get any of benefits that were promised for the project."

He believes cars will have to be stacked and he just can't get a straight answer from developer Forest City Ratner.

"If it was going to be designed according to city standards, we would only 500 cars in it and it wouldn't be landscaped. It would be a very, very different set of impacts. Unfortunately, the mayor is a strong supporter of this project," said Veconi.

The lot is slated to have 1,100 spots.

"I think the lot should comply with New York City zoning regulations," said Peter Krashes, president of the Dean Street Block Association. "They're changing the lot to make it work for the developer. Why don't they take some input from the community?"

A spokesman for Forest City Ratner says they are doing an analysis to minimize the impact on the neighborhood.
