Copiague Teens Struck, Killed By LIRR Train

COPIAGUE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Two 18-year-old women struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train Tuesday night have been identified.

Ariana Napolitano and Katherine Sanchez, both of Copiague, were fatally struck around 6:30 p.m. by a 12-car train which was headed to a rail yard in Babylon.

There were no passengers on the train at the time of the incident.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said it is not clear what the teens were doing on the tracks about a half-mile west of the Copiague Station.

The MTA police are investigating.
