Report: Jets 'Interested' In Reuniting With Braylon Edwards

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Plaxico Burress isn't expected to re-sign with the Jets when free agency begins next month.

It appears Burress, No. 17 with the Jets, may be replaced by the player who previously sported the same jersey number.

According to the New York Daily News, the Jets are "interested" in reuniting with wideout Braylon Edwards.

Edwards, who signed a one-year deal with San Francisco last offseason, was waived by the 49ers prior to Week 17.

His production suffered has he battled through knee and shoulder injuries. In 2011, the 29-year-old caught 15 passes for 181 yards and no touchdowns over nine games.

The Jets would "bring Edwards back if he's healthy and the price is right," the Daily News reported.

The receiver was traded from Cleveland to New York during the 2009 season. Under coach Rex Ryan, Edwards had 53 catches for 904 yards and seven touchdowns in 2010.

Edwards has been no stranger to controversy off the field, including a September 2010 DWI arrest in Manhattan.
