Coutinho: One-On-One With Mets' Wright About 'Non-Serious' Injury

WFAN.com's Rich Coutinho had a chance to talk to Mets third baseman David Wright today in Port St. Lucie about his strained left rib-cage muscle, and the Amazins' slugger clarified the issue by calling the scaling back of his workouts merely precautionary.

Wright confirmed that the muscle is strained, but had today been a regular season game he would have been in the lineup. The five-time All-Star added that he didn't consider vetoing the decision of the Mets' medical staff to sit him, as it is so early in camp and you can't be too careful.

Wright reiterated that he still participated in most of his daily drills, and doesn't think that this is a serious injury. The two-time Gold Glove Award winner cautioned Mets fans not to worry about his status.
