Plaxico Burress: Reunion With Giants 'Always A Great Possibility'

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Plaxico Burress hasn't been shy about his interest in the Eagles. He also won't "totally" rule out a return to the Jets.

And now the free-agent-to-be says a reunion with the Giants is "always a great possibility."

Got all that?

"Playing in (offensive coordinator) Kevin Gilbride's system is definitely one of the best," Burress told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday. "You just see the production those guys are having at the wide receiver position. Victor Cruz obviously with the year he had, Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham. ... And Eli (Manning) has really just become a man of his position, leading those guys the last few games of the season, the last five or six winning, and obviously winning the Super Bowl."

Burress has been publicly critical of Tom Coughlin in the past. He's since softened his stance on the Giants' old-school head coach.

"He's definitely a great coach," said Burress. "One thing about playing for Tom Coughlin is he's going to have his guys ready to go. They're going to be prepared. And the staff that he has around him is tremendous."

Burress added: "Seeing it from afar, from the outside, I don't know exactly what goes on in their locker room or how he's changed, in that aspect, but I think one thing's for sure is that you can see that maybe he's gotten a little lighter on the players. The players have a lot of respect for him. They're going to go out and play hard."

The wide receiver is coming off a one-year deal with the Jets, which he signed after serving nearly 21 months behind bars on a gun charge. He had 45 catches for 612 yards and eight touchdowns in 2011.

The 34-year-old told Philadelphia's 97.5 FM last month that "nothing else" would make him "happier" than teaming up with Michael Vick and the Eagles.

Speculation about a Burress-Vick pairing dates back to last offseason. Burress didn't do much to quell the talk when he donned a Philadelphia Phillies cap upon his release from Oneida Correctional Facility.

Burress said last week on "The Dan Patrick Show" that Rex Ryan had recently expressed a desire to re-sign him. He reiterated Tuesday that the Jets aren't out of the mix.

"They're a championship-caliber football team and I believe they will win a Super Bowl one day," said Burress. "And when free agency starts, we'll see who the guys are who are knocking on the door."
