Police chief Benjamin Fox is running out of ways to convince people to lock their cars and take the keys.

"Lock it or lose it," he told WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams.

On Sunday, a 2007 BMW was swiped from a driveway.

Last week, a $50,000 Mercedes left for 8 minutes with the engine running - gone.

"Certainly in the last month we've had five high-end cars stolen and probably about 15 thefts of the contents of cars," said Fox.

Fox is at his wits' end. He believes thieves keep coming back there because they know for some reason some Wyckoff residents simply don't lock up.

The chief fears what might happen if a resident stumbles upon a theft in progress.

Do you think these people are silly for leaving their cars unlocked? Sound off in the comments section below!
