Former Teacher Allegedly Exchanged Sexually Explicit Texts With New Brunswick Teen

RUNNING SPRINGS, CA (AP) -- A former Southern California teacher has been arrested for allegedly exchanging sexually explicit images with a 13-year-old New Jersey girl.

The FBI says 29-year-old Eugene Ballantyne appeared in court Tuesday in Riverside on a charge of receiving and distributing child pornography. He was denied bond and remains in custody.

The FBI says Ballantyne used a fake name and exchanged online messages, emails and texts with the girl from South Brunswick, N.J.

The FBI alleges Ballantyne admitted having online contact with another underage girl and traveling 180 miles to have sex with a third underage girl.

Authorities say there is no evidence of sexual contact with children at the San Bernardino middle school where Ballantyne previously worked and the district is cooperating with police.

A telephone message seeking comment was left at a listing for Ballantyne.
