Warm Weather Means The Beach On Long Island... In March

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Though the day got off to a bit of a damp start, it sure wasn't a chilly one.

WCBS 880 chief meteorologist Craig Allen predicts a high between 68 and 74, with a chance of a thunderstorm late in the day.

Joggers on the Jones Beach boardwalk told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs that there are a lot of benefits to these 60 and 70 degree temperatures in March.

"Lower heat bills," said Carl from Massapequa. "One day, the Floridians will be over here and we'll be over there. A lot more people are smiling."

While some wonder if this mild winter is the result of global warming or climate change, most say they're just going to reap the benefits.
