Atty: Charges Dropped Against Suspended Wayne Hills Football Player

WAYNE HILLS, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Aggravated assault charges have been dropped against one of the nine Wayne Hills High School football players who had been accused of severely beating two other teens at a house party last year.

Darren Del Sardo, a lawyer for one of the players, said charges against his client were dismissed last week but he didn't disclose further details.

Nine players, including one adult, were suspended from the team after being charged in the Oct. 29 brawl and they eventually were barred from playing in a state championship game.

Attorneys for the players had argued they were punished without due process and that at least two of the players weren't even involved in the alleged attack.

Monday, the Wayne School District introduced a new code of conduct for high school athletes, eliminating different rules for those at Wayne Hills and Wayne Valley high schools.
