NEW YORK(CBS 2) — From tools and doors to fixtures and appliances, crooks target construction sites — both public and private — as if they were shopping at Home Depot.
Experts say it costs the industry millions of dollars each year, which ultimately gets passed on to the consumer.
Thieves steal air conditioners, lumber or any sort of building material often stored openly in a backyard, driveway, or shed. They’ve even been caught steeling shrubs and trees.
