NEW YORK (WFAN) — Call it New York West?

One week after officially signing former Giants wide receiver Mario Manningham, the 49ers have apparently landed another Super Bowl champion. One with two rings, to be exact.

According to multiple reports, running back Brandon Jacobs has an agreement in place with San Francisco. The contract is for one year and “has a potential value of more than $2 million,” wrote Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.

The seven-year veteran, unable to reach a restructured deal with the Giants, was released by the team earlier this month. He was selected by New York in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL draft.

There was a thought that the Giants could bring him back. Coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday morning that re-signing Jacobs was a “possibility.”

“Congrats 2 Brandon Jacobs for his new deal with the (49ers),” tweeted former Big Blue teammate Amani Toomer. “Hold down the bay 4 me. All the best 2 u and the fam.”

The 29-year-old had 152 carries for 571 yards and seven touchdowns in 2011. Jacobs ranks No. 4 in Giants history with 4,849 rushing yards.

“We tried, couldn’t reach an agreement,” Jacobs said after his release. “It’s been great, though. I can’t say anything negative about anybody in the organization.”

New York defeated the 49ers in the NFC championship game last season en route to their Super Bowl title.
