Nets' Prokhorov Jokes He'll 'Crush' Mark Cuban In Kickboxing Match Over Deron Williams

By Julie Parise, CBSNewYork.com for WFAN.com

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Could you beat Mark Cuban in a kickboxing match?

Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov seems to think he can.

The Russian billionaire and owner of the New Jersey Nets was at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Tuesday, where he spoke with reporters about the Nets' Deron Williams situation.

After Dallas dumped Lamar Odom, rumors intensified that the Mavericks would pursue Williams, who has said he would opt out of his contract after this season.

According to CBSSports.com's Ken Berger, Prokhorov avoided answering any questions about Williams' future with the team, calling the situation "top secret." He did reveal, however, that he met with the All-Star point guard Monday.

The Nets owner apparently has his own idea about how to settle the shuffle.

As Berger tweeted:

"Prokhorov on Mark Cuban competing for D-Will: 'Let the best man win. If he wins, I will crush him in kickboxing throwdown.' (!!)"

CBSSports.com reported the Nets appear "proactive" in their attempt to keep the 27-year-old on the roster.
