New York City Tourists Turned Away At Illegal 'Hotel' On West 73rd Street

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Some tourists are finding themselves out in the cold during this warm weekend.

They booked rooms for this weekend at what they thought was a hotel on West 73rd Street in Manhattan, but when they tried to check in they were turned away.

The hotel turned out to be illegal, as it was instead made up of a block of apartments inside a residential building.

Its operator, a company called WooGo Group, was evicted.

"All of the hotel is full," one tourist complained. "It is very complicated. We don't know where we are going to sleep tonight. It's very funny for our holidays."

It's believed that 80 of the building's 200 units were being rented as hotel rooms.

What would you do as a tourist if you were put in this horrible situation? Sound off with your comments below...
