Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing On Long Island

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A small plane made an emergency landing at Heckscher State Park in East Islip on Sunday afternoon.

Nobody was injured in the plane or on the ground, according to police.

The plane was a 1977 Cessna, it was being flown by pilot David Jensen along with a student pilot, police said.

"The two had been en route to Brookhaven from North Carolina when the plane developed engine trouble and landed in the park," a release said.

The plane is in the process of being dismantled, as planes are not permitted to take-off from the park, said Det. Sgt. Thomas Duignan.

The incident remains under investigation.
