NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — A small plane made an emergency landing at Heckscher State Park in East Islip on Sunday afternoon.

The plane was a 1977 Cessna, it was being flown by pilot David Jensen along with a student pilot, police said.
“The two had been en route to Brookhaven from North Carolina when the plane developed engine trouble and landed in the park,” a release said.READ MORE: New York Weather: CBS2’s 12/5 Sunday Morning Forecast
The plane is in the process of being dismantled, as planes are not permitted to take-off from the park, said Det. Sgt. Thomas Duignan.
The incident remains under investigation.
