Female Baringo Giraffe Makes First Public Debut At Bronx Zoo

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A female baby giraffe born last month has made her first public appearance at the Bronx Zoo.

The Baringo giraffe calf debuted on the African Plains exhibit on Monday.

She was 6 feet tall at birth and has a lot more growing left to do. She'll eventually be about 16-feet tall and weigh around 2,600 pounds.

Last September, the zoo welcomed James Marjani, the first Baringo giraffe calf to be born at the zoo since 2009.

All of the zoo's giraffes are named in memory of Mr. and Mrs. James Carter, the benefactors of the Carter Giraffe Building.

The zoo says their newest addition doesn't yet have a name.
