NYPD: Woman Wanted For Impersonating Cop Is Actually A Man

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman who pretended to be a cop to steal a debit card on the Upper West Side is in fact, a man, according to police.

Surveillance video shows the suspect dressed as a woman inside Harlem Hospital on March 13 with what appears to be a badge on his waist.

The man identified himself as a female police officer to gain access to the hospital's administrative offices, but nothing was taken, according to investigators.

He's seen again about two hours later about at a Chase Bank on the Upper West Side, where he walked up to a woman outside the bank, said he was cop and then stole her debit card, police said.

Initially, police said they were looking for a woman in the Upper West Side robbery.
