Surveillance Video Captures Final Moments Of Slain Staten Island Groom-To-Be

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Videos showing the final moments of a Staten Island man killed after celebrating his engagement have been posted on the Internet.

Anthony Lacertosa, 27, was stabbed outside the Espana Restaurant in Annadale around 2 a.m. on March 17.

Family members said Lacertosa's half brother and fiancée, Bridgette Schneider, tried to save his life by performing CPR, but it was too late. Lacertosa was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital.

Earlier this month, a grand jury decided Redinel Dervishaj, 35, was acting in self-defense when he allegedly stabbed  Lacertosa with a butcher knife.

The grand jury in Richmond County declined to indict Dervishaj after seeing the surveillance videos of the fight captured by  two cameras of a neighboring business.

Witnesses told police Dervishaj is a friend of the restaurant manager and that the stabbing happened after some sort of brawl over alleged drunkenness.

Dervishaj's lawyer said the videos, which were posted Sunday night on YouTube, support his client's claim of self-defense and show he was trying to get away from the rowdy crowd.

The video shows a large group outside the restaurant being approached by two men before a physical altercation ensues.

Dervishaj apparently gets pushed over the hood of a car parked in front of the restaurant before running into an alley, stopping at a truck and disappearing out of the frame.

Five men, including Lacertosa, then apparently follow Dervishaj.

The stabbing then happens out of the view of the camera. Lacertosa can later be seen walking back into the alley before collapsing.

Dervishaj was arrested at an aunt's home in a suburb of Chicago on March 20. He has previously spent more than three years in a New York prison for a wild 2007 shootout on a Queens street with two other Albanian figures.

Dervishaj's older brother, Plaurent Dervishaj, is apparently an Albanian mob figure targeted by the feds, CBS 2′s Pablo Guzman reported earlier.
