Iconic Mr. Met Named America's Top Mascot, According To Survey

NEW YORK (WFAN) - The Mets have had a ton of troubles over the last several years -- to say the least -- but now they finally have something they can really feel good about.

Yes, the winning record in the first days of May is nice, but how about the recognition that the club received on Wednesday?

Mr. Met, the Amazins' iconic mascot since the club's inception in 1962, was named America's top mascot by a marketing firm that surveyed a large sample size of fans.

The Mets' mascot, known for his enormous baseball head and his lovable demeanor, edged the rival Phillies' Phillie Phanatic, the Marlins' Billy the Marlin and the Nationals' Racing Presidents in the top 10 list.

Mr. Met is a proud member of the Mascot Hall of Fame.
