NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — A 12-year-old boy was killed by an electronic gate in Brownsville on Sunday.
Witnesses told 1010 WINS reporter Sonia Rincon that a group of children was playing with a sensor that controlled the gate. “It happened so fast, I had just seen him when he left out the house. Then somebody came upstairs and told me my son was dead, I couldn’t even hold him or do nothing,” said Doris Chase, the boy’s mother.READ MORE: Campaign 2021: Polls Open For Early Voting In New York City Primaries; First With Ranked Choice Voting
All that could be seen when the fire department arrived, were the boy’s legs. The fire department had to cut out a part of the gate to remove Yakim.
The Gate was part of a parking lot that belongs to part of a housing complex on Lott Avenue.
