Quinn Says Next Mayor Would Be 'Lucky' To Have Kelly Stay As Commish

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn appeared together Tuesday at a news conference about combating domestic violence.

However with both officials in the same place at the same time, it was the perfect opportunity to ask about the 2013 election for New York City mayor.

Quinn has made no secret of her desire to become mayor while Kelly has been adamant that he's not running for elective office despite reported pressure by Republican Party officials.

The council speaker told reporters that "The next mayor of the city of New York would be incredibly lucky to have Ray Kelly stay on as their police commissioner."

For his part, a clearly irritated Kelly was asked if he was running for mayor and if he could work for Quinn.

His answer was, as usual, "I'm not running for anything."
