Jets Reportedly Among Few Teams Still In Running For HBO's 'Hard Knocks'

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Forget training camp, you could make a documentary series about the should-they-or-shouldn't-they drama surrounding Gang Green and "Hard Knocks."

Team owner Woody Johnson would consider a return to the HBO reality series. Jets coach Rex Ryan reportedly has his doubts. More than a month after the debate started anew, the network is still searching for a team to feature this summer -- and guess who's reportedly still in the running?

You guessed it. New York is "among a handful of teams still in consideration," according to the New York Daily News.

The entertainment factor would surely be through the roof. Ryan's made-for-cable rants were a hot topic of discussion during the team's first appearance back in 2010, and HBO could have a field day in the aftermath of last season's rift between quarterback Mark Sanchez and wide receiver Santonio Holmes.

Oh yeah, then there's that guy named Tim Tebow.

HBO wants "to have a team in place by the end of the month" with an eye on preparing for promos at the selected team's minicamp, the Daily News reported.

On the pro-reality series side: Johnson, who "wants his team back" on the show "and has communicated that to the network," FOXSports.com reported last month. Then there's Ryan, the undisputed foul-mouthed star of the franchise's "Hard Knocks" debut, who FOXSports.com reported "does not want any more of a circus type atmosphere."

And that apparently includes HBO cameras swirling around training camp.

Stay tuned.
