Coach Coughlin On If He'd Be Interested In Bringing Plaxico Burress Back: 'No'
NEW YORK (WFAN) - Free-agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress has certainly had a long and storied history in New York -- some of if it very good, and plenty of it quite terrible.
And it appears that Burress' link to the Big Apple's football world is officially over.
The 34-year-old, who played with the Giants from 2005-2008 -- winning Super Bowl XLII in the process -- resurfaced with the Jets this past season after serving time in prison after accidentally shooting himself in the thigh at a New York City nightclub in '08.
But despite the Giants' potential issues at the wide receiver position for at last the beginning of the upcoming season -- Hakeem Nicks may miss the team's opener with a foot injury -- Big Blue head coach Tom Coughlin has no interest in bringing the NFL veteran back into the mix.
When Coughlin was asked on Tuesday morning at the Giants Foundation Golf Outing if he would consider taking a chance on the 6-foot-5, 232-pounder, the two-time Super Bowl winning coach simply shook his head and said one word: "no," according to CBSSports.com.
So it looks like that's that.
Burress played in every game for the Jets this past season, catching 45 balls for 612 yards and scoring eight touchdowns.
