AC Problem At Penn Station Makes For Warm Commute

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It may be slightly cooler today, but those traveling through Penn Station are still feeling the heat.

For the second day in a row, NJ TRANSIT is cross-honoring tickets with PATH trains for the evening commute.

Temperatures in the underground concourse hit 90 degrees Tuesday afternoon due to some problems with the air conditioning.

Amtrak's Cliff Cole told WCBS 880 that workers began replacing the entire cooling system last week, but that it's not completely up and running.

Giant fans have been placed throughout the station as a way to get cool air flowing.

Temperatures went to the upper 70s on Wednesday.
