In Light Of Recent Episodes, CDC Makes Statement That Zombies Don't Actually Exist

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Javon Kendrick just doesn't get it. He can't imagine what could possess the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention -- a federal agency -- to come out and declare that there are no zombies.

"Who would believe that there are zombies?" Kendrick pondered to 1010 WINS' Steve Sandberg. "I wouldn't think that the feds would have to tell you for you to believe that there aren't zombies out there. That's common sense."

Or is it?

"CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead [or one that would present zombie-like symptoms]," agency spokesman David Daigle said in an e-mail to the Huffington Post on Friday.

"I feel like the CDC, they know something is going on," one woman who disagrees with Kendrick said. "They're trying to cover it up so nobody will panic."

She also believes in vampires, and that this is all one big conspiracy.

There has been a spate of news stories recently about humans eating the flesh of other humans. A homeless man was gnawed on in Miami, a Maryland college student told police that he ate a man's heart and brain, and in Canada a pornographic actor confessed to raping and killing a person before eating the flesh of the corpse.

The CDC said that even though it has a report on how to prepare for a zombie invasion, it acknowledges that there are no such things as zombies. In actuality, the agency said that it's a "tongue-in-cheek" page aimed to get people to prepare for real disasters, such as those caused by weather and terrorists.

What do you make of the CDC coming out and making this statement? Is it simply ludicrous? Share your thoughts and comments in the section below...
