Retired FDNY Deputy Chief Jim Riches, who lost his firefighter son Jimmy on 9/11, said it’s time to hand them over to the experts.

“We want the, you know, the National Park Service to come in. They run a great place at Pearl Harbor. They run Gettysburg. They’ve had experience at this,” he told Miller. “This is supposed to be a national monument where everyone, every American, is allowed to go down there and see what happened to everybody on 9/11.”

A recent New York Times article outlined the financial trouble the foundation in charge of the memorial and museum is facing.

“What they’re doing down there is, you know, just wasting more money after more money and more money,” Riches said.

Riches said says the federal agency will offer the transparency and effective mananagement the site will need going forward.

While the memorial opened in time for the tenth anniversary of the attacks, the museum is well behind schedule and mired in financial troubles.
