NEW YORK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – In response to the ice shortage reported on 1010 WINS Wednesday, Good Humor will be handing out free ice cream this weekend.

On Saturday, the ice cream giant will be handing out the goods in both New York City and Long Island.

When yesterday's heat had many New Yorkers reaching for ice cream, some classic Good Humor flavors were found to be in short supply.

1010 WINS' Mona Rivera revealed that a distribution problem was to blame for the shortage of Good Humor ice cream that left some without a frozen treat.

And the kids weren't happy.

Six-year-old Tianna Taylor told Rivera that when she doesn't get her Snow Cone, she gets mad.

"It's not fair," Taylor said.

The company has responded by offering an ice cream giveaway at their main distribution centers in Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island.
