Man Arrested At LaGuardia For Stealing Laptop At Tampa International Airport

TAMPA, FL (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man who stole a laptop at Tampa International Airport has been arrested by officials at LaGuardia.

According to the Federal Transportation Security Administration, a female traveller placed her Apple laptop into a bin during a security screening at the Florida airport. When she went to collect her belongings, she discovered her laptop had been taken.

Authorities reviewed surveillance footage of the incident, which showed a man passing though airport security, then quickly removing a laptop from one bin and placing it into another.

The man then placed the laptop into his own bag and proceeded to catch his LaGuarida-bound flight.

Officers were able to obtain a detailed description of the offender and, learning of the flight destination, planned to confront the man upon arrival in New York.

When the suspect's flight landed in New York, Port Authority Police and TSA officers interviewed the suspect.

The man confessed to stealing the laptop, which was found in his possession.
